Tom has served as the Chief Executive Officer at Kids Health First since 2003, leading more than 200 physicians in a strategic and global approach to delivering pediatric healthcare products to physician practices Â across the Atlanta MSA. Bringing his previous healthcare knowledge and expertise from multiple industries, including pharmaceuticals, primary and tertiary hospital management, managed care and business operations, Tom has been integral to Kids Health Firstâs success. His leadership in efforts directed toward managed care contracting, network management, financial management and compliance and quality improvements has paved the way for Kids Health First Pediatric Alliance to become the model for physician alliances across the United States.
His accomplishments in this role have involved developing creative solutions to both the financial and expense side of managing a private practice. His open approach to communication and his thoughtful consideration of available information, helped facilitate the development and maintenance of mutually beneficial relationships with major health plans, resulting in economies of scale for all parties.
Most recently, Tom has been active in the development of the first, clinically integrated pediatric network in the state of Georgia, The Children’s Care Network (TCCN). His involvement has brought Kids Health First, Georgia Pediatric Subspecialists, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, managed care organizations and other pediatric providers together to meet the challenges of today’s healthcare industry. The goal of this new entity is to create improved outcomes and the highest level of care at a lesser cost. Tom currently serves as the Senior Director of Operations with TCCN.
His professional experience also includes tenure with Schering-Plough Corporation, a 10B international Fortune 250 research-based pharmaceutical, Innovative Clinical Solutions, Ltd., Executive Director of the Georgia Primary Care Network, and the Chief Financial Officer for the Georgia Medical Management, LLC. Tom also previously served as the Director of Contracting and Network Management of the Atlanta Childrenâs Health Network for Childrenâs Healthcare of Atlanta, one of the leading pediatric health systems in the United States.
Tom also represents Kids Health First as the leading voice of the pediatric medical community through his healthcare professional affiliations throughout the state. These affiliations include active membership on the Community Physicians Advisory Council (CPAC) with Childrenâs Healthcare of Atlanta,Â and the Pediatric Health Improvement Coalition (PHIC).Â He alsoÂ sits on the Administrative Advisory Committee of United Health Care.
Tom also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Georgia Pediatric Subspecialists, which is a physician association comprised of pediatric subspecialty practices including emergency medicine, endocrinology, gastroenterology, otolaryngology,Â infectious diseases,Â orthopedic surgery,Â plastics and craniofacial surgery,Â radiology and urology.
